Flexible Illumination with Unbeaten Spectral Match

Sunglasses. Auto tint. Photochromic, switchable smart glass. You’re developing and manufacturing the next generation of glass technology that’s far more than just a window. There’s incredible structure and uniqueness sheathed between the panes of your innovation.

Your materials exhibit some of the most advanced known glass principles and technology, such as dynamic thermochromic glazing, integrated sun protection, and liquid-crystal polymers. You need glass that resists breakage while maintaining optical clarity, touch sensitivity and damage resistance. You’re on the leading edge, and your materials are finely tuned to give precise results.

You need a reproducible light to output the exact spectrum required, no questions asked. But you also need a light you can adjust to investigate the unexpected spectral properties you’ll encounter en route.

G2V’s solar simulators give you the best of both worlds: the lowest spectral deviation and best spectral match of any commercial solar simulator, along with the ability to tune and customize any LED on the system.

Multi-tool lights that don’t compromise.

Sunbrick™ Solar Simulator for Glass Testing

You’re moving from small samples to larger panels or windows, and need to ensure your glass's innovative behaviours haven't been compromised in up-scaling. The Sunbrick large-area solar simulator has a tileable design that can accommodate arbitrarily large areas so you can fully illuminate large samples.

How the Sunbrick Charged SWITCH Materials Automotive Glass

Problem: SWITCH Materials had developed switchable, photochromic glass technology that was ready to commercialize in the automotive sector. They’d demonstrated its functionality at small scales but needed to execute a litany of certification tests on larger, sunroof-sized substrates.
Innovation: G2V provided them with a custom visible spectrum (400 nm – 700 nm ) array of 128 Sunbricks to provide illumination in a 2 m x 4 m area that minimized cost while still producing the key spectral signatures they were interested in.

Outcome: SWITCH Materials was able to execute full-module glass testing and make steady progress on meeting the many rigorous requirements needed for certification and approval in the automotive sector.

G2V's FAQs

Yes! We’ve done live-streamed demonstration tests on customer samples in the past, and if you have particular spectral concerns that might be addressed by a demonstration, we’d be happy to try and arrange that.

Welding torches typically have very sharp spectral emissions which don’t necessarily align with the peaks produced by the LEDs in our solar simulator. However, we recommend getting in contact and we can share the best spectral match we’d be able to produce for this spectrum, and you can assess if it meets your needs.

The Sunbrick’s uniform area is square-shaped, and it decreases in size as you increase the working distance and move farther from the working plane. As long as you’re within the central region, the intensity drop-off is minimal and is likely still within your requirements, allowing you some flexibility to illuminate substrates that have depth as well as length and width.

For any spectrum outside of the standard air masses like AM1.5G and AM0, we recommend getting in touch with us so we can provide advanced information on the expected spectral match we can produce, so you can make an informed decision. If you decide to purchase, we will include calibration against the spectral standard(s) you provide.
