Photovoltaics Solar Cells Article Intro

This article outlines the importance of solar cell technology in the context of the world’s increasing energy needs and the need to move away from fossil fuels to combat climate change. These factors drive the need for better solar cell technology in terms of efficiency and reducing the carbon footprint during manufacturing.

Understanding the fundamental design, physics, and materials of solar cells is needed to understand all the challenges facing solar cell development. Ultimately, with the steadily decreasing cost of silicon-based solar cells and the rise of new technologies, researchers need accurate data about their new devices.
